With Guy Lafleur at the peak of his game, the defensive Big Three and Ken Dryden in goal, the 1976-1977 Montreal Canadiens are widely regarded as the greatest team of all time. The Canadiens lost only once at the Forum with a 60-8-12 record for an NHL record 132 points. They then won 12 of 14 playoff games, sweeping the Bruins in the finals to win their 20th Stanley Cup. This 1976-1977 Stanley Cup championship ring in 14-karat gold and diamonds was presented to Mario Tremblay. This stunning size 10 ring weighs approximately 35 grams, featuring the iconic CH on the face, set with diamonds, surrounded by raised gold letters spelling "NHL Champions" on a black background. A raised Stanley Cup, "1977" and "Tremblay" adorn one band, while the other band presents "Club De Hockey Canadien" and "Champions Est-East." Below, the "60-8-12" reflects the team's regular season record, giving the Canadiens an incredible total of 132 points for the season, which remains a league record. Inside this beautiful ring is engraved "Josten's 14K," along with Tremblay's facsimile autograph. Showing signs of wear, the ring has scratches on the inner and outer bands and on the shanks. There is also a small stain on the inner band. From Mario Tremblay's personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany the original Josten box.
The Montreal Canadiens dominated the 1977-1978 NHL season, losing only 10 regular season games and just three playoff games to win their third consecutive Stanley Cup championship. Many Canadiens players also won individual awards. The Art Ross Trophy was awarded to Guy Lafleur and the Conn Smythe Trophy to Robinson, among others. Bob Gainey, Hall of Fame star and former Canadiens captain, won his first of four consecutive Frank J. Selke Trophies. This 14-carat gold and diamond ring was presented to Mario Tremblay for his status as a 1978 Stanley Cup champion with the Montreal Canadiens. Size 11 1/2 and weighing approximately 39 grams, this spectacular ring features a dazzling centerpiece with a huge diamond set in a diamond-shaped gold setting surrounded by 24 smaller diamonds floating in a sea of White Gold. "N.H.L. Champions 1978" surrounds the whole on the bezel. The "Stanley Cup" banner on the left shank with "Club de Hockey Canadien" below and each of the team's 21 Stanley Cup championship years surrounds a likeness of the Lord Stanley Cup, while "Tremblay" is written above the CH logo on the right shank with "East Champions 59-10-11" below, reflecting Montreal's incredible regular season record. "Jostens 14K" is stamped on the inner band which also features Tremblay's engraved facsimile signature. Regarding condition, the ring shows many scratches and wear on the band due to use, with additional scratches and wear on the sides of the bezel and shanks. From Mario Tremblay's personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany the original presentation box with a Habs logo on the swivel lid.
This magnificent creation in gold and diamonds commemorates the fourth consecutive Stanley Cup conquest by the Canadiens dynasty in the late 1970s and evokes memories of this famous team, including Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden, Larry Robinson, and Steve Shutt. The Canadiens won the Stanley Cup for the fourth straight time in the spring of 1979, sweeping the Maple Leafs before defeating the Bruins in a tough semifinal that revolved around a penalty for too many Boston players during the seventh game. Yvon Lambert scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal in the fifth game of the finals against the New York Rangers, allowing Montreal to win the Stanley Cup at home for the first time since 1968. Bob Gainey contributed six goals and 16 points to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. This magnificent 1978-1979 Canadiens Stanley Cup ring presented to Mario Tremblay is adorned with 22 real diamonds. The face features four diamonds, as well as the image of the Stanley Cup and the years "76-77-78-79" when the Canadiens won Lord Stanley's silverware. The bezel contains 18 diamonds, and the total diamond weight is 110 points. One of the rings bears the inscriptions "1979" and "NHL Champions Stanley Cup" with the team's regular season record "52-17-11" at the bottom. The other bears the inscriptions "Tremblay," the CH logo, and "Club de Hockey Canadien" at the bottom. "Josten's 14K" is stamped inside the size 8 1/2 ring, which weighs approximately 26 grams, and features Tremblay's facsimile signature. Regarding condition, the outer ring is covered with scratches from use, with a small nick along one side at the bottom of the ring. From Mario Tremblay's personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany the original presentation box with a Canadiens logo on the hinged lid.
